“Le secrétaire à la défense américain, Pete Hegseth, a adressé, mardi 24 février, un ultimatum à la start-up d’intelligence artificielle (IA) Anthropic pour qu’elle lève toutes les restrictions à l’utilisation de son IA par le Pentagone. La jeune société californienne a jusqu’à vendredi à 23 h 01 (heure de Paris) pour s’exécuter, faute de quoi le ministre entend user d’une loi votée en 1950 qui permet de forcer une entreprise privée à produire des biens pour la défense nationale. M. Hegseth entend également, en cas de refus, faire inscrire Anthropic sur la liste des sociétés qui présentent « un risque pour les approvisionnements ».”

“Chinese hackers are breaching Navy contractors to steal everything from ship-maintenance data to missile plans, officials and experts said, triggering a top-to-bottom review of cyber vulnerabilities. A series of incidents in the past 18 months has pointed out the service’s weaknesses, highlighting what some officials have described as some of the most debilitating cyber campaigns linked to Beijing. Cyberattacks affect all branches of the armed forces but contractors for the Navy and the Air Force are viewed as choice targets for hackers seeking advanced military technology, officials said.”

“DARPA envisions a future in which machines are more than just tools that execute human-programmed rules or generalize from human-curated data sets. Rather, the machines DARPA envisions will function more as colleagues than as tools. Towards this end, DARPA research and development in human-machine symbiosis sets a goal to partner with machines. Enabling computing systems in this manner is of critical importance because sensor, information, and communication systems generate data at rates beyond which humans can assimilate, understand, and act. Incorporating these technologies in military systems that collaborate with warfighters will facilitate better decisions in complex, time-critical, battlefield environments; enable a shared understanding of massive, incomplete, and contradictory information; and empower unmanned systems to perform critical missions safely and with high degrees of autonomy. DARPA is focusing its investments on a third wave of AI that brings forth machines that understand and reason in context”.
